This invention, that was mentioned in previous questions, was used to make the longest phone call ever made - in terms of distance. Who made this call and where did it go to?

Here is the answer to yesterday’s question!
The answer is the Apollo 1 flight, which caught fire during a pre-launch test, leading to the unfortunate demise of the astronauts on board. The audio recordings of what was going was recovered by a company that was contracted, but this audio was never released because of how emotional and difficult it was.
