Aurium Daily #49 - Stationery

Today's topic is stationery!

This stationery item was created in 1966 by a basement waterproofer and an insurance company clerk to ensure that ink wouldn't smudge when this was applied. This product was later bought by a French company in 1992. What product is this?

Here is the answer to yesterday’s question!

The answer is the Alan McMasters Hoax! In 2012, a group of university students were told by their professor that Wikipedia was unrealiable because of how people could edit it without anyone noticing. These students decided to make a Wikipage for the inventor of the toaster, and used the name of a friend: Alan McMasters. They photoshopped a picture of his to make it look old, and this website was repeatedly cited in many articles and books. The entire thing was only exposed when a Redditor in 2022 noticed that the Photoshopped picture looked weird and reported it without even knowing it was a hoax. The page was then taken down and now serves as a reminder that the not everything on the internet is real

As always, the answer will be released tomorrow on the next issue of Aurium Daily - until then, put your answers in the comments!

See you tomorrow!
