Aurium Daily #118 - Sports

Today's topic is mythology-inspired sports

This sport was introduced to the Olympics in 1896, the first Modern Olympics in Athens, and was inspired by the legend of the Greek character Pheidippides. The distance that the athletes had to cover for this event was the same distance that Pheidippides covered. What event is this?

Here is the answer to yesterday’s question!

The answer is Pepsi Co, and it is called the Pepsi Number Fever or the 349 Incident. During this event, Pepsi created a raffle event where numbers would be called and whoever had a bottlecap with that corresponding number would win a prize. Pepsi kept a tight control on which two bottle caps would win the prize, and they had the number 349 with a security code. However, regular bottle caps were being printed out with the same number 349 but without the security code, leading to a lot of controversy. Adding the confusion, newspapers announced that the winning number was actually 134. Pepsi Co offered 500 pesos to the people who received the incorrectly printed bottle caps, costing them a total of 8.9 million USD.

As always, the answer will be released tomorrow on the next issue of Aurium Daily - until then, put your answers in the comments!

See you tomorrow!
